Having toured with the likes of New Order and the Cult as drummer with Factory band Lavolta Lakota, for the fledgling B. F. G. project, Mike Simii began working with long term friend Keith ‘Poppa’ Lambert. The idea was simple, and somewhat unusual.
As a drummer, Mike, with little idea how to play the guitar, was now going to attempt to teach Poppa the bass. The theroy being that whatever noise was forthcoming, it would be at the very least ‘unique’.
Due to the Factory Records connection, Pete Hook, Joy Division and now New Order bassist lent the fledgling B. F .G. the Oberhiem DMX drum machine that was responsible for probably one of the most recognisable kick drum riffs in history. Technolgy was already gaining a hold in the bands syche.
